WORKSHOP: Sustainable management of Tourism sector for attractive Adriatic-Ionian region
On 12 March 2018, Municipality of Izola, the Slovenian EUSAIR Facility Point project partner, organized a workshop titled »Sustainable management of Tourism sector for the attractive Adriatic-Ionian region«. The aim of the event was to bring together stakeholdes operating in tourism sector in Slovenia to exchange information on activities in order to further promote cooperation and partnership search and to get information on funding possibilities.
The workshop was very well attended and several ministries send their representatives, such as Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, the Ministry of Culture, the Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, the Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning and the Tourist Board of the Chamber of Slovenia.
Policy-makers received a first hand feedback from the field on projects considered as good practices and bottom-up ideas. Project beneficiaries who are managing the projects familiarised themselves with the top-down macro-regional priorities and potential funding opportunities. The question about the support the Slovenian EUSAIR Facility Point can offer in this process was also tackled. The organizers linked the workshop's topic with the Smart Specialisation Strategy in Slovenia as a way to laverage the potentialsof Sustainable Tourism in the macro-region and be more competitive when applying for the EU funds and financial mechanisms. The EUSAIR Facility Point project partner in Slovenia assured to the participnats firther active support for the realization of project ideas related to the EUSAIR Strategy and Pillar 4 "Sustainable Tourism" objectives.
