EUSAIR Facility Point Lead Partner, in collaboration with the Centre for European Perspective (CEP) and the Digitalni Foto Klub, under the patronage (N° FZS 012/2023) of the Photographic Association of Slovenia (FZS), is delighted to announce the organization of an international photography contest for young people. This initiative aims to encourage the participation of young individuals from the Adriatic-Ionian region and raise awareness and visibility of EUSAIR.
The contest is open to all young people attending primary or secondary schools in the EUSAIR participating countries. Participants from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, North Macedonia, San Marino, Serbia, and Slovenia are invited to take part. The photographs should be taken in any of these countries.
The contest offers four themes to choose from, each related to the development priorities and pillars of the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region:
Theme A - Sea and Life: Showcasing good practices related to the sea and inland waters, including marine tourism, maritime transport, marine ecosystem conservation, marine life, fishing, and aquaculture.
Theme B - Transport and Energy: Highlighting sustainable transportation, logistics, energy networks, and green energy, focusing on improving connectivity and sustainability in the region.
Theme C - Water Pollution: Raising awareness about poor practices and pollution in the sea, coastal areas, and inland waters, and the importance of preserving biodiversity.
Theme D - Sustainable Tourism: Depicting tourism in the region that respects the environment, minimizes impact, and promotes local identity and characteristics.
Participation in the contest is free of charge, and each participant can submit up to four photographs for each theme, totalling up to 16 photographs. Digital photographs in JPG format should be submitted, with a size between 2000 and 2500 pixels on the longer side and a file size not exceeding 3 MB. The photographs should not contain signatures, logos, or decorative elements. Submission is possible here https://app.rola.si/contest/54/upload.
A jury of international experts will evaluate the submissions, and the selected photographs will be published in the EUSAIR project publication, displayed on websites and social media, and printed as postcards distributed at future EUSAIR events. A total of 41 awards will be given, including gold, silver, and bronze medals, diplomas, and honourable mentions. The author of the best photograph will receive a special practical prize, the Manfrotto MVG220 gimbal, sponsored by Digitalna Kamera magazine.
The deadline for application submission is July 15, 2023. The results will be announced by July 25, 2023, and the awards will be mailed out in July 2023.
By participating in the contest, the authors agree to the terms and conditions and allow their data to be used for communication and publication purposes related to the EUSAIR and its related publications. The organizers reserve the right to publish the works for non-commercial purposes, solely for the promotion of EUSAIR, in printed and digital media. The authors are responsible for the authenticity of their work and ensuring they do not infringe upon third-party copyrights.
