CYCLING DEVELOPMENT IN THE ADRIATIC-IONIAN AREA AND THE ADRION CYCLE ROUTE

Udine, Italy | 10 October 2024

The States-General of cycling mobility are foreseen by the regional law n. 8/2018 “Interventi per la promozione della nuova mobilità ciclistica sicura e diffusa”, as an advisory and propositional moment of participation and confrontation between institutions and stakeholders involved in the cycling sector, with the aim of promoting the cycling mobility’s culture.

To the States-General are invited local public authorities, public transportation companies and those which provide cycle-tourism and sustainable tourism services, sport associations linked to the
Italian Cycling Federation, associations which have already been represented in the TREC – Regional technical table for the cycling mobility and civil society associations involved on cycling and
soft mobility, on environmental protection and promotion, on landscape and regional cultural goods, and on active lifestyle.
The first part of the States-General focuses on identifying both the regional context and the regional activities focused on cycling, while the second part aim is to gather feedbacks and observations from institutions and stakeholders involved in the cycling sector through 5 minutes brief speeches.

The initiative is part of the EUSAIR Macrostrategy within the activities of the Interreg VI A Italy- Croatia project “CYROS”, which promotes sustainable cross-borders mobility and whose objective is to develop the Adriatic-Ionian cycle route named Adrioncycletour (EUSAIR flagship and cross pillar project) on which the FVG Region is actively working. The initiative, indeed, foresees an afternoon session only focused on Adrioncycletour, which involves the States of the EUSAR area crossed by the cycle-route.
