Budva as a centre of EUSAIR discussion on Environmental Quality
A fruitful Thematic steering group for Environmental Quality was held in Budva (Montenegro) on 13th November. Five out of eight EUSAIR countries representatives of ministries competent for Environment in European strategy for Adriatic-Ionian Macro-region (EUSAIR), representative of European commission, EUSAIR Facility Point and EUSAIR Facility Point Plus participated at the meeting.
A fruitful Thematic steering group for Environmental Quality was held in Budva (Montenegro) on 13th November. Five out of eight EUSAIR countries representatives of ministries competent for Environment in European strategy for Adriatic-Ionian Macro-region (EUSAIR), representative of European commission, EUSAIR Facility Point and EUSAIR Facility Point Plus participated at the meeting.
The main focus of the meeting was further development of four already approved strategic “labelled” project concepts into bankable projects for upcoming Calls in 2019. TSG 3 and TSG 4 - Sustainable Tourism were the first two, that have submitted the common – Interpillar project to Facility Point Plus in order to develop the project concept into bankable project.
The title of the project is “Managing Tourism Flows in Protected Areas” and its aim is to capitalize the precious experiences of existing AdriaPAN Network (mentioned in the EUSAIR, cfr. its Action Plan[1]); to move towards its enlargement (to the Ionian sea) and is consolidation.
New modes and tools of permanent cooperation will be built up in order to reinforce the capacity of marine and coastal protected areas (PAs) to act as policy driver in the Region for ensuring a good environmental and ecological status of the protected areas, contribute to the goal of the EU Biodiversity Strategy and Improving the quality and innovation of tourism offer and enhancing the sustainable and responsible tourism capacities of the tourism actors across the macro-region.
Furthermore, based on the 4 already mentioned strategic project concepts, at the meeting representatives agreed upon tree priorities to be included in the 2021-2027 ESI Partnership Agreements and IPA III programming framework. Deadlines for submission of Annual Progress Report for 2018 and Action Plan for 2019 were defined and first draft of Monitoring and evaluation process for TSG3, was presented.
Before the conclusion of the meeting PORTODIMARE Interreg ADRION project and conclusions from round table Small-scale coastal traditional fisheries - challenges and opportunities for local community development through the link of fisheries and tourism, were presented. Moreover, the achievement of the Mediterranean and EU Macro-regional Coastal Week in Izola, was shown in the following video.
The next 10th TSG 3 meeting will take place in Croatia or Montenegro in march 2019.
