Frames of Inspiration – EUSAIR Through the Lens of Youth
EUSAIR Facility Point Lead Partner, and CEP, together with Digital Foto Klub, organised an international youth photography contest titled ‘Frames of Inspiration – EUSAIR Through the Lens of Youth’. It was held in July 2023. The contest's main goal was to encourage the participation of young people from the Adriatic-Ionian Region and raise awareness and visibility of the EUSAIR among them.
The contest was organised under the patronage/auspices of the Photographic Association of Slovenia. Pupils from primary and secondary schools from all EUSAIR member states, 10 countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, North Macedonia, San Marino, Serbia and Slovenia) were invited to participate.
The contest focused on four themes highlighting four thematic priorities of EUSAIR, representing critical challenges and key opportunities in the region. Those themes are sea and life, transport and energy, water pollution and sustainable tourism. The main idea behind those themes is to promote a shift toward more sustainable development, ensure sound environmental and ecological conditions, prevent biodiversity loss, and emphasise local identity.
All in all, 259 photos were received from 52 young photographers. The photos were evaluated by an international jury with four members – 3 professional photographers from Italy, Serbia and Slovenia, and an EUSAIR Facility Point Representative from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The contest's overall winner was Anja Tomanić with a photo titled Dying World. The best photo (see below) received first prize (professional gimbal) from a sponsor, Digitalna Kamera Magazine, while the authors of the 25 best photos were awarded a prize, either a medal or a diploma, from the Photographic Association of Slovenia. Best photos will be published on the EUSAIR website and social media as well as printed as postcards and distributed at later events within the framework of EUSAIR.
The winning photo is titled Dying World by Anja Tomanič.
