European Commission initiatives to restart tourism
In addition to the Digital Green Certificate initiative, there are two other initiatives that the European Commission is currently working on intensively: the Pact for Skills in Tourism within the European Skills Agenda and The New European Bauhaus Initiative.
The aim of the Pact for Skills in Tourism is to encourage joint training activities and greater investment in upgrading existing skills (upskilling) and retraining for new skills (re-skilling) in the tourism sector. The initiative addresses employers, social partners, chambers of commerce, public authorities, education and training providers and employment agencies and encourages them to joint cooperation projects in this area and increase investment in training, with the support of the European Commission and the EU funds. The preliminary plan is to sign the Pact for Skills in Tourism by the summer of 2021.
The New European Bauhaus Initiative has the ambition to make the Green Deal a cultural, human-centred and positive, tangible experience. The new European Bauhaus Initiative builds bridges between the world of science and technology and the world of art and culture. The initiative calls on all Europeans to build together a sustainable and inclusive future, "beautiful for our eyes, minds and souls". An initiative is a creative and interdisciplinary emerging movement, and anyone can become a part of it by getting involved in one of its developmental stages.
