EUSAIR and EUSDR together for a better visibility of cultural routes
On 13-15 October 2019, Vienna hosted a two-day macro-regional training on improving Visibility and Communication of cultural tourism and cultural routes in the EUSAIR and EUSDR macro-regions. The event was organized by the Council of Europe and Routes4U project with the presence of one hundred participants.
The topics of cultural tourism and cultural routes are priority activites of the EUSAIR Thematic Pillar 4 which deals with topics of “Sustainable Tourism” in the Adriatic-Ionian region and is coordinated jointly by Croatia and Albania.
The representatives of EUSAIR Thematic Pillar 4 actively participated at the workshop and thus contributed to a better visibility and further promotion of EUSAIR activites in the respective field.
It is important to note, that the two-day workshop was organized with an emphasis on EUSAIR and EUSDR priorities related to cultural tourism and cultural routes and especially on the selection and certification of cultural routes, which is one of the priority activities of the EUSAIR Thematic Pillar 4.
The role of the EUSAIR Strategy and the EUSAIR Facility Point project was stressed, addressing them as key contributors in the process of creating and certifying cultural routes.
The discussion of future involvement of stakeholders in planned activities took place, as well as their role in the process of developing and certifying cultural routes. The aim was to encourage the certification of cultural routes in the EUSAIR and EUSDR macro-regions under the framework of common EU priorities and consider funding mechanisms.
