10th EUSAIR Governing Board meeting – outcomes from Belgrade
All of the eight EUSAIR countries participated at the 10th EUSAIR Governing Board meeting that was held on 21-22 October in Belgrade, Serbia. Among the participants were alos the representatives of the European Commission, Facility Point Lead Partner and other Standing members of the Governing Board.
Hereby below we highilgt the main outcomes of the meeting:
The Serbian Chairmanship of the EUSAIR/AII 2019-2020 presented the Programme and Tentative Calendar of activities of its chairmanship. The 5th EUSAIR forum will most probably take place in the second week of May 2020 in Belgrade.
North Macedonia participated as a guest at the 10th Governing Board meeting. Until the formal inclusion of North Macedonia in the EUSAIR Strategy, North Macedonia's representatives will be invited to the TSG’s meetings and included in other TSGs activites. The reorganization of EUSAIR pillars could be a topic for the next Governing Board meeting 2020.
Preparations for the next programming 2021-2027 are already underway. The Interreg ADRION programme and European Commission DG REGIO are working together on this task. The Governing Board agreed to appoint a representative to the relevant task force of the ADRION programme.
The procedure of including EUSAIR priorities in the IPA III programming framework 2021-2027 should be accelerated. The Serbian Chairmanship will draft a letter on behalf of the EUSAIR participating countries, and will send it to European Commission.
The follow up fo the Catania ministerial Declaration is needed and the implementation of the Paragraph 6 should be accelerated.
The comments on the macro-regional priorities proposed by the TSGs shall be collected as soon as possible and approved by National Coordinators.
Terms of Reference regarding the Monitoring and evaluation of the EUSAIR should be adopted as soon as possible.
The Issue paper prepared by the external expert with the aim to identify a common TSGs approach, will be further elaborated in respective TSGs.
The network of managing authorities could be a topic for further elaboration.
Governing Board familiarize itself with the Facility Point plan on communication, activity plan and innovations.
Facility Point Plus informed about the six macro-regional and cross-sectorial project ideas that are eligible to receive additional technical support. The ideas tackle the:
- Managing tourism flows in protected areas;
- Developing a technology cluster, incorporating blue growth technologies and culture;
- Strengthening the dialogue and increasing institutional capacity for effective implementation of marine spatial planning;
- Introducing energy-efficient technologies in the buildings under monumental protection;
- Designing an Adriatic-Ionian transport route for the development of sustainable tourism; and
- Establishing a Technology Platform in the field of blue growth and transport.
Governing Board acknowledged the activities of the AI-NURECC.
Serbian Chairmanship stressed the future collaboration regarding the activites at the occassion of celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative.
